The modern Noble coins have been issued by Isle of Man since the early 80’s. Despite their world-wide popularity, they were not minted every year. This had added to the coins allure as previous issues can be difficult to find. With the 2022 edition, CIT is extremely proud to bring an emended design to the Noble. It is the first enhancement to the actual design since it was introduced back in 1983! Thanks to the smartminting® technology the famous Viking long ship on the reverse shows more details as certain elements have been modernized. You can almost feel the wind when you look at this coin!
The design of this double thick piedfort is framed by an elaborate Viking motif border design. Along the top of this design, you will see the Triskele which is IOM’s coat of arms. The obverse features Jody Clark’s portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Interestingly, Nobles are legal tender but they do not have a fixed face value; instead, like the Krugerrand or Mexico’s Libertad, they are legal tender to the value of their precious metal content.
